How Thermal Transfer Logistics Label Works
Thermal transfer printing uses a heated printhead to transfer ink from a ribbon onto the label surface, creating barcodes, text and shipment information. The paper-based constructions listed on this page combine thermal transfer paper, hot melt or emulsion adhesive, and a white glassine release liner.
| Component | Construction / Selection |
|---|---|
| Facestock | 70 g/m² thermal transfer paper |
| Adhesive | Hot melt for JCT2001; emulsion for JCT3001 |
| Release Liner | 60 g/m² white glassine |
| Printing Ribbon | Select a compatible ribbon and verify print quality before use |
How to Choose Thermal Transfer Logistics Label
- Check the packaging surface. Identify whether the label will be applied to corrugated cartons, coated board or plastic packaging. Test adhesion on the actual surface.
-
Confirm temperature conditions. Share both the temperature at the time of labeling and the storage or transport temperature. High initial tack alone does not establish suitability for low-temperature applications.
-
Prepare the surface. Apply labels to clean, dry surfaces. Dust, moisture and condensation can affect adhesion and should be addressed before labeling.
-
Match the ribbon and printer. Evaluate a compatible wax or wax-resin ribbon with your printer settings, then check barcode readability and resistance to handling.
-
Confirm special requirements. Suitability for cold-chain use, moisture exposure, chemicals or prolonged outdoor exposure has not been established by the specifications listed here. Contact us for material selection and testing before use in these conditions.
Logistics use cases
- Carton Shipping Labels: Shipment details, addresses and tracking barcodes on compatible carton surfaces.
-
Pallet Identification: Identification labels applied to suitable outer packaging, subject to adhesion testing.
-
Warehouse & Inventory Labels: SKU, batch and stock identification in dry indoor environments.
-
Manufacturing Logistics: Identification of components, work-in-progress and finished-goods packaging.
Application suitability depends on the label construction, ribbon, packaging surface and service conditions. Test samples under your actual printing, labeling and handling conditions before bulk use.

Thermal Transfer Logistics Label FAQ
Thermal transfer labels require a ribbon to transfer the printed image onto the label surface. Direct thermal labels use a heat-sensitive surface and do not require a ribbon. The correct choice depends on your printer, expected label life, storage conditions and exposure during handling.
Ribbon selection depends on the label face material and the required print performance. Wax, wax-resin and resin ribbons are used for different applications. Share your printer model, label material and handling conditions so that ribbon compatibility can be assessed. Testing the selected label-and-ribbon combination is recommended before bulk use.
Please provide the face material, adhesive requirements, release liner, roll width, roll length, core diameter and estimated order quantity. Details about your converting process and the label’s final application are also helpful. If you have an existing specification or sample, please share it for evaluation.
Please provide the label dimensions, shape, material requirements, quantity and intended application. For roll labels, include labels per roll, core diameter, maximum roll diameter and winding direction. Your printer model and any gap, perforation or black-mark requirements will help us confirm a suitable configuration.
Performance depends on the face material, ribbon, adhesive and application conditions. Thermal transfer printing alone does not make every label waterproof or abrasion-resistant. If your labels will encounter moisture, friction, chemicals or outdoor exposure, please describe these conditions so the appropriate construction and testing requirements can be discussed.
These are common logistics labeling applications, but adhesive suitability depends on the actual surface. Corrugated board, stretch wrap and plastic packaging can require different adhesive properties. Please provide the surface type, application temperature and storage conditions. Sample testing on the actual packaging is recommended before placing a bulk order.
Contact YG Group with your required supply format, material specifications and expected order quantity. Sample availability, minimum order quantity and production lead time will be confirmed for the selected construction and dimensions. For compatibility evaluation, please also provide your printer and ribbon details or your converting requirements.
